BBA Degree - Business Mgt; Minor-Fine Art Studio in 2000 from Austin Peay State University. In 2011, after retiring from 25 years of service in the nonprofit field and human rights advocacy, made the transition to career artist. My studio is located within the community of artists at The Anderson Center for the Arts & Interdisciplinary Studies in Red Wing, MN. My work involves all areas of the visual/tactile arts - painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media... including strong interest in the practice of public and civic art.I enjoy experimenting, taking risks and pushing boundaries while broadening my visual and tactile vocabulary. I also pursue opportunities that support my interest in working within the realm of public art and collaborative installations. Being Deaf, much of my work reflects the language, history, life and perspective of American Deaf Culture in a style and approach shared among artists to which striking parallels emerge--such as the work by other minority, diaspora, or indigenous artists with a strong point of view and story to tell. www.cynthiaweitzel.com
