About Robert Mcconnell

I graduated from University in February 2011. I began my career working in mobile as a developer for iPhone and iPad applications. As Unity started to become a popular engine for developing I began dabbling with Javascript and C# with the Unity platform for developing in 3D. I really enjoyed working in Unity with C# and decided I wanted to pursue opportunities to work with C# as my primary language. I still learn other languages as the need arises but given the chance I usually choose to develop in C#.Specialties: C# ,Javascript,C++,Ruby 1.8x,Obj-C,HTML/CSSVS 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012

  • Fifteenth Arrow
    Unity Developer
    Fifteenth Arrow Mar 2012 - Jan 2014
When I first started with Fifteenth Arrow I had no experience with Unity3D. I spent my first 2 weeks or so learning how to navigate the UI and create basic objects and scripts for the world, changing scenes in game, creating standalone .exe and modifying build properties. My main daily activities are writing basic AI for the entities as well as combat scripts in both javascript and C#. I primarily like to use java script when in Unity because java script was the language I first started using in my scripting tutorials. Some of the other developers use C# - so I have to be familiar and work with both. I work with designers to build different levels. Building the level includes adding/creating - prefabs, game objects, art assets and underlying scripts. We hold 2 weekly scrum meetings to discuss what has been done thus far this week and what we plan to do in the coming week. During these meetings we set goals and deadlines and discuss things that may be blocking us from completing these tasks. The company is not funded in any way so this is all worked on when we have time.
  • Intel Corporation
    Temp Tech Staff
    Intel Corporation Aug 2012 - Aug 2013
    Santa Clara, California, Us
I worked in Graphics System Validation. At the beginning almost all of my time was spent learning the ruby language and its capabilities. Once I became comfortable in the language I was tasked with reviewing test scripts that were returning errors; I would fix the code and ensure the scripts were running properly. The scripts were later tested on the hardware to make sure the logic was correct. As the number of scripts receiving errors dwindled, my time was spent developing tools for my team. One of the tools was used to compare single script pass/fail data between multiple hardware revisions and compile information pertaining to the scripts and their history. This tool helped my team see what tests were failing, when they have failed and if a certain release was causing these issues.Another tools I wrote extracts data from a range of script executions. The script log files are parsed and important data is extracted: Errors, Warnings, execution status, execution time and sums of occurrences. This data was then stored in a .CSV file and later used to generate a Pivot Table in Excel. This table made the data easier to track what areas we needed to focus on.
  • Copper Mobile, Inc.
    Software Engineer
Copper Mobile, Inc. Mar 2011 - Nov 2011
    Dallas, Texas, Us
As a software engineer at Copper Mobile my main priority was creating apps for the IOS device. My role in app creation was mainly creating the screens and the navigation between them. I worked on transmitting data from the app and the database through APIs.Another role I had was QA testing apps that were written by other developers to ensure the functionality and data is being transferred correctly. In some situations I was also placed in a minor project management position. I was in charge of contacting clients and making sure they were kept in the loop with the status of their projects. I would also work along side the clients to make sure any issues they found were fixed and presented in the next build.Unfortunately in November of 2011 the company decided that having a remote office in Sunnyvale CA was not working out and laid all of the employees off there, including me.
