GDI is an incubator for transformational social impact ventures that are scaling the next generation of system-changing solutions (more than 69 initiatives launched since 2013).As a member of GDI's Strategy & Build team, I work closely with the Global Opportunity Youth Network, a global network of 15 communities in Latin America, Africa and South Asia working for youth employment. My responsibilities include:- Development of the strategic framework, theory of change and growth model- Management of partnerships and relationships with global donors, philanthropic foundations and local partners ($10+ million in funding obtained)- Supervision of monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) activities- Development and consolidation of critical methodological tools to evolve and develop thenetwork at a high quality level (including the development and maintenance of an online learning laboratory with over 300 learning resources for local partners)- Budget development and team managementAlongside my work with GOYN, I conducted an in-depth study of the most promising innovative financing solutions for youth employment and entrepreneurship (over 60 stakeholder interviews, over 150 case studies). This research gave rise to the “FinYouth” report, published in December 2023, which highlights eleven concrete incubation leads. I now lead the development and implementation of these innovative financing solutions within the Global Opportunity Youth Network.

CDC is the UK's Development Finance Institution. CDC invests in the private sector to support the building of businesses throughout Africa and South Asia, to create jobs and make a lasting difference to people's lives in the world's poorest places. CDC manages a portfolio of over $5.7bn of equity and debt investments in emerging markets. As a core member of the Strategy team, I led key strategic initiatives to support CDC’s rapid growth, including:- Development of CDC’s strategy for expansion in Africa, aiming to enable $4.5bn of new investments over four years, leading to two new office openings and doubling of local staff- Cross-functional review of internal constraints to investment, leading to key business improvements such as streamlining of investment process and development of new approaches for key markets and products- Review of CDC’s strategic positioning within the development finance landscape and development of a new approach to institutional collaboration, leading to expansion of internal stakeholder management capabilities- Delivery of seven sector strategies to align organization behind a clear set of priorities within each sector- Formalization of CDC’s new approach to development impact, leading to radical increase in breadth and depth of impact capabilities (from 5 to 20+ staff) and hiring of CDC’s first Chief Impact Officer- Development of a change management program to improve oversight and execution of 100+ internal projectsAs part of my role, I built and managed relationships with senior stakeholders, including CDC's C-suite, Board and shareholder (DFID), and led cross-organisational teams to deliver change across the organization.
