As a student at North Carolina State University, I try to find meaningful ways to get involved in my community and make a positive impact. During my freshman year, I joined the school's SolarPack club in hopes of contributing towards a more sustainable future. Not only has this solar car racing team provided me with countless opportunities to continue learning engineering outside of the classroom, but it has also allowed me to hone my interpersonal skills. After being promoted to the High Voltage Equipment Management team lead my sophomore year, I now find myself spending more times planning meetings and training new members, which I enjoy just as much as working directly on the car.During my sophomore year, I have also taken on the position of resident advisor, which provides me with countless opportunities to help others. Many of my residents are freshmen who have the exact same questions and problems that I had the previous year. Being able to build relationships with these residents and help them through their issues is very rewarding, and it has made me much better at understanding and communicating with other people.As I work in more positions in the future, I hope to have even more opportunities to help others and create a better world for us all. This is what has drawn me to the field of renewable energy, as my greatest goal is to help lead the push to healthier, more sustainable, and more affordable energy for all the world.
