As a Teach For America corps member, I teach 5 sections of 11th grade American literature, develop culturally relevant curricula to relate English-specific theoretical thinking and skills to the everyday reality of Lakota youth, and tutor twice a week after school in order to supplement classroom English instruction for students seeking additional assistance.Additionally, I serve as the National Honor Society Chapter Advisor, which includes selecting new members, writing chapter bylaws, and organizing and planning the induction ceremony. I also serve on the senior scholarship committee where I reviewed written applications and decided scholarship amounts based on the merit of the applications.

D.C. State Board Of Education/Office Of Ombudsman For Public Education

Conducted informational intakes via phone and email with D.C. public school parents and students and communicated with school staff to successfully resolve conflicts. Researched D.C. laws, policies, regulations, programs, and consulted D.C. government agencies in order to advise parents and schools on proper procedures and practices as it related to their case. Edited and summarized documents/testimony on special education and discipline policy in D.C. which were presented to the Chair of the D.C. Council Committee on Education. Compiled, analyzed, graphically depicted and identified trends in case data for use in the drafting of the office’s annual report. Consulted with assistant ombudsman to draft an internal document outlining proposed changes to the intake system in order to maximize efficiency and clarity during the intake process.

The Executive Office of the President provides the President of the United States with the support that he or she needs to govern effectively. The Office of Administration provides effective, efficient and economical administrative and business services to the Executive Office of the President. In this role I built publish-ready e-learning courses for deployment to Executive Office of the President employees. Presented weekly progress reports and delivered high quality presentations on the above innovative e-learning courses to ensure goal alignment, complete customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance.
