Launched First 8 Studios @ WGBH. First 8 Studios produces and publishes research-based apps for early learners, their teachers and parents. Our first app series, Early Math with Gracie and Friends, broke into Apple's top 15 Education and Kids apps at launch. The first app, Gracie & Friends Birthday Cafe, was named the #2 Ed Tech Product by Common Sense Media. The product suite produced statistically significant learning gains.

Led production on Next Generation Preschool Math and Next Generation Preschool Science, $6 million dollar NSF-funded efforts to develop digital materials for teachers and students to optimize math learning. CO-PI for Next Generation Preschool Science.

Led pilot projects exploring in-video gaming as a way to boost educational impact of linear video as well as interactive whiteboard activities designed for whole-class engagement. Produced WGBH’s first iPhone app for kids.

Produced WGBH’s first web-only program for kids. Produced, wrote and directed short-form episodes, wrote the blog and designed and produced interactive games; conducted formative evaluation of games.

Research including survey design, data collection and analysis with Dr. Michael Rich for a national study surveying pediatric residency training programs’ education practices regarding media influences on health; survey design with senior research scientist David Bickham, Ph.D., for a study assessing the impact of prosocial television programming and school curriculum on children ages 6-16.

Taught eighth grade English, creating a new multi-media curriculum model based on a grant-winning proposal for innovative teaching entitled “Storytellers”; led the dramatic arts humanities elective, culminating in the production of The Sound of Music; founding member of the committee to address relational aggression. Previously taught all subjects in a self-contained fourth grade classroom.

Taught an English course in this summer enrichment program for at risk children; implemented community action to address relational aggression among female students; piloted single-gender academic classes, creating curriculum and analyzing feedback; offered academic and social support and guidance to at-risk adolescents.
