About Céline Da Graça Pires

Multilingual lawyer (Paris Bar), Business and Human rights (BHR) practitioner, and lecturer. 8+ years of experience working with companies from diverse sectors to strengthen their human rights performance using the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights as the guiding North Star. Extensive experience engaging with stakeholders from around the globe, including with Indigenous and Tribal Peoples and affected communities. Passionate about fieldwork, I have conducted human rights impact assessments (HRIAs) and led community engagement worldwide and, more recently, in Mozambique, Belize, Honduras, Colombia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Chile, Mexico, Argentina, and France within the agriculture, logistics, extractives, and renewables industries. Strong supporter of a “smart mix of BHR measures,” I believe we need the right combination of mandatory, voluntary, national, and international measures to fast-track business respect for human rights and achieve urgent positive changes. I led BSR members’ preparedness for the upcoming EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive and other mandatory national HREDD legislations.Fluent in English.
