Responsible for managing and monitoring the success of six team members which includes training, evaluating and providing the necessary tools and support for positive outcomes. Recently acquired a $125,000 grant which continues to enhance the mission of the schools and offers opportunities for ideal success. Actively engages with the school’s Executive Director, Program Managers, and Community Partners to organize and implement a vision for quality daytime, after school, and summer programming.Exercises active communication with teachers and school leadership as a way of monitoring and measuring the success of each student and the overall program. Strategically implements an ideal curriculum that emphasizes social and behavioral skills while overcoming any behavioral challenges. Implements human resource skills that include background checks and the recruiting and hiring of staff and volunteer team members. First African American Women to serve as the Assistant Director of Student Life, Athletics, and Activities for Tacoma Public Schools. Was directly responsible for over 4,000 students in roughly 38 elementary schools, nine middle schools, and five comprehensive high schools. Created a successful middle school program called Unified which supported special needs kids in nine middle schools. Managed the world-recognized We Day program for over 700 seventh-grade students. Effectively managed and monitored all District athletic and activity budgets (i.e. materials, equipment, supplies) used in the interscholastic sports programs. Served as District liaison responding to inquiries (i.e. from coaches, athletic directors, principals, teachers, administrators, district staff, parent(s)/guardian(s), professional organizations, community groups, colleges, and universities) regarding interscholastic athletics, middle school intramurals and activities. Engaged in monthly meetings with high school athletic directors, activity coordinators, and middle school activity directors to ensure a safe environment for students. Created and implemented In-service training workshops to improve methodologies that reflected overall ideal athletic programs. Visited schools throughout the district to discover challenges always offering a commitment to equity in athletic and co-curricular opportunities for students.
