As a Controls Engineer at Patti Engineering, I am responsible for developing controls solutions for issues that clients present us with. In this role, I am responsible for - 1. Designing mechanical systems to cater to clients' needs and budgetary constraints. 2. Proposing off-the-shelf solutions that would meet the client's needs.3. Designing different elements of machines using 3D modeling software like NX and SolidWorks. Working with vendors in manufacturing these solutions. 4. Working with clients to develop robotic solutions for their needs. Use Fanuc Roboguide for reach studies and cycle time analysis. 5. Developing cost proposals based on company solutions and recommendations. 6. Creating automation and machine layout based on the 2D plant layout. Use AutoCAD to make necessary changes. 7. Developing the Siemens PLC solutions using the TIA Portal. 8. Working with suppliers to procure hardware based on the timeline set during the project management stage. 9. Fostering strong client relationships by maintaining effective communication about the project. I also have experience developing data-driven solutions and designing and conducting field tests to evaluate the proof of concept. During my Master's thesis, I designed an experimental protocol that reduced the metabolic energy consumption for overground walking using a passive hip exosuit. In this study, I led a team of researchers and graduate students to investigate pathways of reduction in metabolic cost. We employed a two-day experimental protocol that involved a human-in-the-loop (HIL) Optimization, employing Bayesian Optimization algorithm with metabolic energy as a cost function. As a result, we observed that the subjects outperformed when using the exosuit with an overall metabolic reduction of 6.64%.I gained hands-on experience working with human subjects in a regulatory environment during this study. I also gained valuable insights in the use of Python and MS Excel for advanced data processing and statistical analysis.
