Mr. Laundy started his investment banking career in 1994 with top-10 US investment bank Smith Barney, in London, after having been trained on Wall Street by Smith Barney as corporate finance analyst. He went on to become Manager of European Operations for the Canadian investment dealer McDermid St. Lawrence Securities (now Raymond James Ltd). More recently, Mr. Laundy founded a venture capital company focused on commercialising intellectual property from a number of important US research universities. He also operated as an independent entrepreneur for many years, advising companies like AquaBounty Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AQB) in relation to equity financings and other key milestones. For example, Mr. Laundy played an instrumental role advising and assisting AquaBounty's founding CEO to float the company on AIM, the London Stock Exchange's SME growth market, in 2006. (In 2015, AquaBounty's AquAdvantage® Salmon was approved for production, sale, and human consumption by the FDA, making AquAdvantage® Salmon the world's first genetically engineered animal approved for human consumption.) Most recently, Mr. Laundy founded a startup project with a leading Canadian university, which in turn founded the Cognition Fund. Mr. Laundy holds an Honours B.A., Economics degree from the University of Western Ontario, Canada.
