About Denzel Dehoyos

As a third-year civil engineering student at San Francisco State University, I am determined to gain more experience in the utility, transportation, and construction industry. With a passion for working collaboratively, and contributing to impactful real-world projects I am on track to graduate in May 2026. I have been actively involved in research, leadership roles, and construction internships that have sharpened my technical and professional skills.Currently, I am working as a Research Assistant on the Sustainable Structural Resilience Research project under the National Science Foundation (NSF). I’ve contributed to designing models for buildings featuring green infrastructure to improve energy efficiency and air quality, collaborating with both licensed engineers and other researchers.In addition, I have the privilege of serving as the President of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) at San Francisco State. I work alongside a selected team to create professional development opportunities for students, which has helped over 70% of our officers secure internships. Through organizing events, collaborating on future initiatives, and connecting students with valuable industry resources, I’ve been able to grow my leadership and teamwork skills.Last summer, I worked as a Field/Project Engineer Intern. Gaining exposure to all phases of construction across multiple healthcare projects. I gained practical experience in project management, P6 scheduling, quality control, and trades coordination, while delivering solutions that minimized re-work and enhanced project timelines. Additionally, I developed RFIs, PCIs, and CORs, contributing to projects like the Kaiser Permanente Elevator Modernization and Generator Replacement projects in San Francisco.
