Watching the the devastation unfold Dan prayed what can I do, the answer was Cycles 4 the Caribbean.Making contact with The British Virgin and Anguilla Islands Commissioners of Police Mick Matthews & Paul Morrison. When Dan called Mr Matthews on the BVI from home within a few days after the Hurricanes hit his call all was the first received since power was lost. Dan worked to make contact and organise to send aid by way of recovered unclaimed bikes, hand , garden and power tools to the BVI, Anguilla and Grenade.In December 2017 Disaster relief Charity Team Rubicon UK, supported by UK Police and great people such as Wirral based Triathlete team Tri 4 Life organised Operation Rudolph a shoe box appeal to the kids on the BVI where Rudolph ended Cycles 4 the Caribbean began with delivery of the first batch of 35 cycles to the BVI.Relationships established with the Liverpool Commonwealth Association and local Charity on British Virgin Islands with The Youth Empowerment Programme (YEP)On returning from the first trip Dan planned to raise the funds to send a 40 foot container to the Caribbean to be received by YEP shipping out 140 cycles 4 kids, helmets, spares, tools and kits 4 the Caribbean, football tops boots and sports equipment organised by the Coalition of Disabled People from St Helens. In addition much needed equipment for the Royal Virgin Islands and Anguilla Police. After delivering the second container in July 2018 and the second trip with Cycles 4 the Caribbean the plan has developed to deliver sail training to youth internationaly creating pathways to employment into the blue economy.
