** When I was 16, I was a world champion.** I was born in McAllen, TX and attended college at Texas A&M Kingsville, University of Texas San Antonio and University of Texas RGV. Right out of college, I used my BA in Music to land a music teaching job in the live music capital of Texas: Austin. It sounded like a dream, until it didn't. I kept grinding away (winning state championships with my students,) but something was missing: time with my family. When I'm not working, spending time with family and my dog are my go-to activities. Travelling (I have been to 42 different states, Canada and Mexico) and volunteering my assistance with the local high school bands are among other activities to which I feel drawn. It was during the summer between my sophomore and junior years in high school that I was able to travel to such a variety of states. That tour was with an organization called DCI (Drum and Bugle Corps,) with the World Championships culmination in Boston, MA. That summer, I became a 16 year-old world champion. The preparation required for such a task builds an elite character to which I have continued to develop throughout my life. Prior to that, I spent a fair amount of time in my elementary school principal's office for talking in class, but I prefer to chalk that up to early preparation of my keen communication skills. But
