I am primarily based at the Semovo Glasgow satellite clinic where I manage all areas of sperm donation - from diagnostic semen analysis assessment leading to acceptance of sperm donors to booking weekly appointments for cryopreservation of donor sperm and performing venepuncture for screening of sperm donors. I was able to shadow and engage with specialists at primary consultations and all steps of the infertility treatment process, from stimulation of ovulatory process and transvaginal ovum retrieval to embryo transfer to the uterus. During my Honours project, I investigated the role of CXCR4 chemokine receptor in the teriparatide therapy for patients with osteoporosis. I maintained the growth of osteoblast cells under controlled conditions and treated them with teriparatide and control drug in different stages of their development. I then used Western blotting to compare the expression of CXCR4 chemokine receptor between the two experimental groups. CXCR4 expression was further assessed by FACS.
