Director Of Strategic PartnershipsColorado Association Of School Boards Jun 2018 - Feb 2019Denver, ColoradoUnder the Schoolhouse Collective LLC umbrella, entered into a compendious dedicated engagement with CASB where I was responsible for launching programs and initiatives that created revenue for the organization, including partnerships with the National School Board Association (NSBA) as well as various corporate and advocacy organizations in Colorado. I also developed and implemented customer-relationship management (CRM) strategies (a first for CASB) to enable the incorporation of data-driven decision-making for marketing and revenue generation opportunities. Additionally, I was intimately involved in other programs and services that supported CASB’s mission, including development of board trainings, advocacy (e.g., Amendment 73), and topics of importance (e.g. school safety). I frequently interfaced with elected officials and was sought out to speak on topics at the intersection of public education, policy, and law.www.casb.org -
General CounselColorado School Districts Self-Insurance Pool Dec 2012 - Aug 2016Denver, ColoradoCSDSIP is a non-profit Member owned quasi-governmental organization where I provided legal and other consultative services to 156 of the 178 public school districts in Colorado to address the diverse issues encountered in public education. I interfaced daily with Members (local boards of education, superintendents, and risk managers), the CSDSIP Executive Director, and the CSDSIP Board of Directors, and routinely published communications in response to legal and political issues that impacted the Membership. As part of the CSDSIP leadership team I provided oversight and direction on a variety of operational and administrative functions, including budget, human resources and management of the in-house claims team. I was also active on the legislative front, testifying before committees and engaging with the Governor’s Office, as well as leadership in both the Senate and the House. The 2016 legislative session yielded success as I had the pleasure of seeing a bill that I wrote (HB16-103; Sponsors: Garnett (D-House)/Marble (R-Senate)) garner unanimous bipartisan support and become law. I was a frequent speaker at CSDSIP Member oriented events, a contributing writer to various publications and a guest commentator on Colorado Public Radio.• Link to CPR interview: http://www.cpr.org/news/story/how-much-liability-should-schools-have-shootings-colorado-law-may-change • Link to instructive presentation: https://prezi.com/a_q9eisngiay/ferpa-practical-student-privacy/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy www.csdsip.net
