During legal experience of about 30 years in the Department of Legal Affairs have handled several important legal matters, portfolios, cases, etc. Besides tendering legal opinion/advice to different Departments/ Ministries of the Govt. of India on various legal and constitutional issues, have handled unforeseen legal and constitutional controversies/problems arising between the States and the International Community.  Have functioned as In-charge for handling litigations on behalf of Union of India before Hon’ble Supreme Court, High Courts and District/Lower Courts, and various Tribunals.  Have also functioned as Arbitrator and Appellate Authority under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 and has disposed more that 200 of arbitration cases. Has also functioned as the Appellate Authority to decide Appeals against the Award published by the Permanent Machinery of Arbitration (PMA) and have decided about 100 cases till date. Have acted as Part-time Member in FERA Board (now ATFE); Copy Right Board; IRDA Division Bench and Protection of Plant Varieties & Farmers Rights Authority as a nominee of the Law Ministry, to decide various appeals, etc. Have acted as First Appellate Authority under the RTI Act, 2005, for the Department of Legal Affairs. Have been nominated to represent GoI in various international seminars on legal matters and discussions on mutual agreements, etc. Have visited Japan, Nepal, London, China, Thailand, Switzerland, Russia, Austria and USA in this regard. Have attended/participated in several seminars in the country on various legal subjects. Enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Delhi on 18.11.1993.

Career:  Joined legal service in the Ministry of Law and Justice in the year 1979 and thus have experience of over 30 years of working on different posts.  In the capacity of Union Law Secretary, have been monitoring the functioning of the Department of Legal Affairs which is responsible for tendering legal advice/opinion to various Departments/Ministries of the Government of India on legal and constitutional matters; handling litigations for and on behalf of Union of India before the Hon’ble Supreme Court, High Courts, subordinate courts and various Tribunals, etc; responsible for finalizing various Treaties, Agreements, Conventions, etc. with foreign countries; etc.
