My research and consultancy concentrate in the areas of dam safety, constitutive and numerical modeling of undrained behavior of non cohesive soils, insitu testing and geotechnical earthquake engineering. I have been teaching several graduate and undergraduate courses including constitutive behavior of geomaterials, ground improvement and foundation engineering. I have published 26 papes in peer reviewed journals in geotechnical engineering, performance of builit infrastructure and material science, about 50 conference papers and monographs. I am serving on the editorial boards of Gemechanics and Engineering, a journal published by Techno-P2, Korea since its inception in 2009 and Environmental Geotechnics of Institute of Civil Engineers, London, UK, the first issue of which will be available in January 2014.

I was involved with several engineering projects in heavy civil and mining engineering over my career as a professional engineer that spanned more than a decade before I took up a position in the academia. My work during this was predominantly in engineering and design of tailings dams pipelines and infrastructural and industrial facilites for dynamic loads and earthquakes and assessment of seismic risk of built facilities.
