My responsibilities with JCorp include managing the day-to-day activities on the job site, putting together preliminary project budgets for clients, developing and assembling proposals for new work, and building relationships with subcontractors. The team I am a part of recently completed three, twelve unit apartments in Ames, IA. The apartments were designed and built to meet the demand of the increasing population of young, professionals in the area. All three buildings were opened on schedule and the project as a whole stayed under budget. Currently I am serving as the construction manager for the office addition and remodel of Cornerstone Church in Ames, IA. The project is a steel frame 12,000 square foot expansion, which will allow the entire church staff to operate out of a primary location in lieu of being scattered throughout the existing facility.

During my time with Beck I was a Project Engineer on a six person team working to resurrect a stalled out project that had fallen victim to the 2008 economy crash. The end result was the Sheraton McKinney hotel (http://www.sheratonmckinney.com/) located in McKinney, TX. My project engineering responsibilities included: developing steel shop drawings around existing piers and inconsistent anchor bolt patterns, reviewing shop drawings for post-tensioned concrete floors and procuring material/manpower, quality control of rebar and post-tensioning cable placement in elevated slabs, creating a steel lintel and relief angle plan with the mason and structural engineer, and implementing a punch list system powered by Field360 and QR codes. My management responsibilities included: the door and hardware scope of work including access controls, the elevator scope of work for both hydraulic and electric elevators, working with high-end craftsmen for the custom millwork features designed by the interior designer, the operable partition scope of work, and all other interior finishes including paint, vinyl wallcovering, carpet, tile, and finish carpentry.

Effectivley developed schedule tasks and quantity takeoff for HVAC remodel of Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids, IA. Held position of Superintendent, PM Intern and laborer gaining valuable experience. Learned professional leadership skills while working with Architects, Project Managers, owners, and laborers.

Member of the Beck Healthcare team managing the construction of a Texas Health Hospital in Fort Worth, TX. One of my responsibilities included collecting data for the prefabrication case study that was conducted on this project. The patient bathrooms (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_LEiS_Ma3A) and patient headwalls (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IX8Hzrag_wM) were prefabricated off-site in a controlled environment warehouse then transported to the project site when complete. Trades were able to work more efficiently and more cost effectively. I also worked along side the life safety subcontractor to develop a layout for strobes and smoke alarms. I used Revit to model their system components, place them in the overall 3D model, and use both Navisworks and Tekla BIMsight to early detect any clashes amongst other trades. Lean construction methods were implemented on the project and I was able to be a part of one of the schedule pull planning sessions. Once the subcontractors helped develop the schedule we assigned each task a custom barcode. Using a scanner connected to an iPhone the barcodes were scanned in the order of the construction logic. This information could then be uploaded and used to develop the project schedule. I was also able to manage the construction documents using various cloud and local applications, review shop drawings and submittals, perform quality control inspections in the field, and interact with subcontractors regularly.

Successfully managed bid packages for the US Federal Courthouse project in Cedar Rapids, IA. Helped organize and coordinate pre bid meetings.Developed positive relationships with subcontractors and field workers. Used On-Screen Takeoff to efficiently generate bid quantities.
