  • Buyerprice
    Chief Technology Officer
    Buyerprice Jan 2016 - Mar 2017
    London, United Kingdom
BuyerPrice was a platform developed to help first-time buyers get the best house price. Created for the US market, the system was made up of a Chrome Extension, a hybrid Android & iPhone app, a backend to enable negotiation and a pricing system which used linear regression to predict a reasonable negotiating price for houses based on a number of features relating to the property, the location and the housing market. Created with a React & Redux isomorphic front-end and a Node & Express backend, deployed on to AWS using Terraform, Puppet and AWS CodeDeploy for CI. I was responsible for architecting and developing the system for this rapidly moving start-up. In March 2017 the company pivoted to become http://upfund.co/ and is currently operating with a new business model in a hand-cranked style.
  • Mathscraft
    Chief Technology Officer
    Mathscraft Feb 2015 - Feb 2016
Mathscraft was founded with the goal of taking away the fear of mathematics in primary school children. Whilst working directly with schools in London we developed a number of multiplayer, collaborative maths games to be played in the classroom. Our first game focused on teaching times-tables and was developed using Unity3D with a PHP(Silex) REST API and a Javascript & Redis based WebSocket real-time game backend. The games can be played on classroom interactive whiteboards or on iPads. The teachers’ interface was created with Backbone and d3 to allow teachers to view the progress of their students and identify knowledge gaps. I developed a logistic-regression model to assess the abilities of the students, allowing the system to intelligently match students during multiplayer play and provide teachers with an accurate assessment of ability. Shortly after joining the team, we applied to a number of startup accelerators and were accepted by two. We proceeded with the Bethnal Green Ventures accelerator for Winter 2015. Following on from the program we were featured in BETT Futures 2016 and received funding from Innovate UK.
