I was a member of Contract Research Organization. I mainly developed new templates for sampling and testing schedules, sample storage status, and analyzer status. Also, I assisted researchers for batching the samples which will be used for Stability Testing. In addition, I observed researchers using the UV spectroscopy, performing microbiology testing, and attended conferences regarding stability testings.

I was a member in the Consumer Healthcare team and my main responsibilities were to explain and possibly sell the newly developed over-the-counter (OTC) vitamin product Actinum EX Gold. I visited over 300 different pharmacies and detailed the benefits of Actinum Ex Gold and other OTC products to pharmacists. In addition, I was assigned to a team-based project to develop marketing strategies to popularize the company’s product. The project was formulated through in-depth interviews, surveys, and each interns’ acquired knowledge from pharmacy visits. At the end of the program, we fully developed marketing strategies for both pharmacists and consumers and was awarded first place at a presentation symposium.

I performed breast cancer research with Dr. Sungchul Ji. I was tasked with proving the theory of Mechanism Circle by analyzing if a particular gene was affected by either drug, tumor, or both. The experimental data was already drawn using the microarray and I developed and used the Planckian Distribution Equation and Histogram to prove the theory. In addition, by analyzing the graphs, I had to figure out if the specific protein was beneficial for the tumor or not and if the tumor cell was less sensitive than normal cell. My data certainly proved the theory of Mechanism Circle and I presented the results at a research symposium.

I was a member of the Formulation Analysis team. I translated case reports and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) from English to Korean and vice-versa. I also prepared and performed the dissolution test for cholesterol drugs under the provision of researchers. In addition, I aided researchers and learned how to use UV spectroscopy to determine the purity of the drugs. Furthermore, I learned how to use HPLC to separate and identify the components of drugs. Moreover, I was assigned to do a project to determine the efficacy and purity of the investigational cancer chemotherapy agent using all the techniques I have learned. After the laboratory work, I extrapolated results through Microsoft Excel and summarized said results in a report.
