Research Assistant
Current• Research Assistant at Dr. Norman G. Lewis Lab focusing on plant metabolomics• Use hybrid poplar as platform for producing specific chemicals-allylphenols and propenylphenols which have roles in plant defense against herbivores and parasites and benefits in foodstuffs due to their antioxidant properties and potential anticancer medicinal applications• Analyze allylphenols and propenylphenols content in transgenic poplar with GC/MS and LC/MS (XEVO G2 QTOF)• Use statistical program R packages, such as XCMS for high-throughput “omics” data analysis and annotate targeted/untargeted metabolites such as phenylpropanoids, flavonoids and salicylates• Analyze lignin content of hybrid poplar using two approaches (acetyl bromide and thioacidolysis) for both leaves and stems of plants
