Conceptualisation of and making exhibitions; research and (re)interpret existing (ethnographic) collections towards the popular and fashion / dress; publishing and lecturing on museum exhibitions, decoloniality and decentering, fashion and museums, collections and objects; editing museum publications; blogging. My goal in work is to contribute to a better understanding of the workings of identity and culture in general; the importance of material culture; the role of fashion and popular culture in people's lives, and the function and work of a museum in society, all to keep museums on diverse cultures and cultural processes the most interesting and inviting places to be in the world.I am very interested in the decolonisation or decentering of (global) fashion, different fashion systems, and the role of fashion and textiles in politics. Further interests concern the body, social design, the metaverse and (its interaction with) popular culture, such as the Japanese comic culture of manga and anime, mass culture and grassroots culture, mostly in relation to identity issues.
