About Daan Go
My name is Daan Go, I’ve been responsible for consultancy work and many due diligence reports of utility-scale solar projects, throughout The Netherlands. Now I’m starting my new adventure as Project Engineer Utility Scale Energy Storage at Trina Storage GmbH.I am passionate about the energy transition towards 100% renewables at all levels of energy demand, driven by my mission to counteract climate change at soon as possible. Not only am I working on a better planet for my clients, but I also go out of my way to reduce my own footprint. Examples: 1) I took on the challenge multiple times to drive back and forth between Spain and The Netherlands in an EV in stead of flying. Nowadays, to use my time more effectively by working in the train from Barcelona to Amsterdam. 2) my office is based in an efficient and all-electric home. Regarding PV due diligence work, the following points list the type of projects from with I gained most of my experience:- Developing early-stage technical risk assessments for project financing, based on fundamental component/design choices (up to 80+ megawatt scale)- Detailed project lifetime yield calculations, using 3D modelling, PVsyst and data from local weather stations (up to 40+ megawatt scale)- In-depth technical design verification, including string configurations, compliance with all applicable permits, cable calculations, design lay-out, etc. (up to 80+ megawatt scale)- On-site commissioning, verification of as-built documentation and checking compliance with design. (up to 10+ megawatt scale)Also, I was a driving force in various other type of projects:- Responsible for gathering the necessary documents and successfully obtaining SDE++ subsidies (for multiple years)- Developing feasibility studies, both financial and technical, for PV installations on commercial properties (up to 10+ megawatt scale)- Design verification on a utility-scale battery project- Optimisation of PV designs, with special attention to the maximum possible number of solar panels, while considering all applicable permits and municipal regulations- Determining the optimal size of a battery + PV + EV charger installation As I was born in The Netherlands, I am a native speaker in Dutch and I became proficient in English during my studies. The exams are organised country-wide and happen at the same time for all students. These final exams test the student's knowledge on all what was learned during their time at high school and are very important for the finalisation of their time at high school. As an "Examentrainer" you are given the task to refresh the students memory of all they had learned in the past 4-6 years about that subject, in just 1-3 days. Exam trainings are very effective to summarise all the relevant formulas and calculation methods to solve the hardest questions on the exam. Personally, I taught most of the time Physics and Chemistry, in classrooms varying from 1 to 30+ students, of all study-levels in almost all provinces in The Netherlands. This gave me a strong sense of how to work with students and how to organise a group. I studied the synthesis, product shaping and application of a bio-based 3D-printable material. A flexible thermoplastic elastomer was synthesized using poly(butylene terephthalate) and a drop-in bio-based chemical from Croda (Gouda), for improved flexibility. A 3D-printed end-result was obtained.
