Axon's mission is to save lives and protect the truth in public safety around the world. At Axon I led the global Product Design, UX Research, Technical Writing and Design Operations functions. I grew the team from a handful to 60+ and from only Product Design to also include UX Research, Technical Writing and Design Operations.Responsible for the user experience of all Axon software products such as Dispatch/911, Records and Digital Evidence Management across all form factors (web, mobile, tablet), and for the hardware interaction design of all our hardware products (body worn cameras, in-car camera systems, drones, interview rooms, and signal products). Specific focus on making all the products work together seamlessly to enable First Responders to save lives and protect the truth. Created the Axon Design System and brought all product together under it to enabling a cohesive family of products to be used together. Work includes design for responsible AI and ethical considerations across the Axon software and hardware portfolio.

Completely redesigned the main Socrata product resulting in a significant competitive advantage, a great overall user experience, and a patentable new user interface paradigm for visualizing and exploring data. During my time at Moz heading up the creative team, Marketingland identified Moz as the second most recognizable Marketing Tech brand. We came in behind Google and ahead of the likes of Hubspot, Salesforce, Adobe and Microsoft.

Responsible for dramatic improvements to the first experience of windows reducing the out of the box process from 22 minutes and 50% failure rate to 2 min and 10 second and 0 % failure. Worked with OEMs like Dell and HP convincing them to keep the first experience clean. Greatly improved the hardware device setup experience.

Hardware interaction design of desktop productivity devices (such as mice, keyboards and fingerprint readers). Also, software user interface design of the drivers and retail websites of the mouse and keyboard lines. Led a large scale innovation project that provided product ideas 3-5 years down the road. Generated significant intellectual property by a number of patents, most notably the Microsoft Tilt Wheel which generated more revenue than the invention of the original optical mouse. Won an International Stevie Award for best new product.
