We’ve done several assignments for municipal and research organizations in the greater region of Utrecht as well as an independent research commissioned by the Municipality of Utrecht about transitions in the Dutch health care system.

About GIZ:The services delivered by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) draw on a wealth of regional and technical expertise and tried and tested management know-how. As a federal enterprise, we support the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. We are also engaged in international education work around the globe.My main task was to support to the Flexible Land Tenure programme of the Ministry of Lands & Resettlement. This programme aims to achieve more tenure security for dwellers of urban informal settlements in Namibia.▪ Co-organizing a workshop (together with GIZ, UN Habitat and the Ministry)▪ Co-writing a comprehensive document on Flexible Land Tenure▪ Compiling a Flexible Land Tenure bibliography.▪ Presentations and attending meetings.▪ Working closely with the staff of the Ministry of Lands & Resettlement.Other tasks:Researched several topics related to land reform, e.g. the new policy proposals of the South African land reform and FAO’s Voluntary Guidelines on Responsible Tenure. The researches resulted in papers presented to several people within the Ministry and the GIZ. Involved in several administrative processes, including re-designing of posters and brochures of the Ministry. Taking notes during meetings and involved in other supportive administrative and IT tasks for both the Ministry and the GIZ Support to Land Reform. Wrote articles for the GIZ Namibia newsletters and assisted the GIZ Support to Land Reform staff with shorter research questions.

Amersfoort

Initiating en conducting a survey called ‘Gemeentelijke Barometer Fysieke Leefomgeving’ (‘Municipal Barometer Fysical Environment’). This survey investigated the main problems, challenges and chances in the fysical environment for Dutch municipalities.Tasks:▪ Developing, executing and analyzing a survey on Dutch municipalities (300+).▪ Interviewing Mayors and Aldermen.▪ Co-writer in a publication.

Utrecht Area, Netherlands

Worked in the International Cooperation department. My main task was collecting data for my Master Thesis about European municipal networks, with a special focus on the European New Towns and Pilot Cities network. The Municipality of Nieuwegein was included in this network. I also assisted on other subjects within the International Cooperation department and organized meetings and other activities.

Lucknow Area, India

As part of a team of international students, I worked on project Vikaas (which means ‘Development’ in Hindi). This project focused on analyzing the main problems of three villages in greater Lucknow Area (North-India), which the NGO Sarvajanik Shikshonnayan Sansthan aimed to adopt. My topic was the economic and political situation in these villages. I conducted interviews with regional and local politicians and local citizens, wrote articles for local newspapers and co-writed the final report.
