Senior Interaction DesignerRtl Nederland Jan 2016 - Mar 2016Hilversum, Nl[Via Hike One] Buienradar • App Redesign. Buienradar is the most used weather app in the Netherlands. Competition is fierce in this field. Other apps that only focus on one single area or that offer a broader weather-view are getting momentum. The new Buienradar app had to be ready for the future, stay relevant for the core audience (millions of users) and attract new users. We formed a strategy based on quantitative and qualitative research, together with new business goals. By starting off with a Design Sprint, we could focus on the problem/challenge in a sandboxed environment. After one week of sketching, prototyping and usability testing we validated a winning direction. We succeeded in offering a complete weather overview, without losing the core benefits of Buienradar and at the same time make the app scalable and ready for the future.Following the design sprint we transitioned the concept into a scrum project. The app went live months later, and was received very positively. The app currently has 4,5 stars in the Apple App store. My role in this process was leading the UX, facilitating the design sprint and other workshops, performing user tests, prototyping, and laying down the interaction design foundations for the new app. This was a multiplatform release, Android, iOS, phone and tablet. -

I had the privilege to work on one of the leading products in their portfolio: the Horizon TV interface. I learned a lot by presenting concepts to product managers in different countries, working with a vast array of experts within the company, long-term strategies, facilitating teams, reinventing our process multiple times, the impact of hardware on performance, and designing an interface that you can't touch. -
Interaction DesignLiberty Global Mar 2014 - Jun 2014London, Gb[Via Hike One] Corporate startup project focussing on creating a relevant IoT product for households. In twelve weeks we created a working MVP version of a 'home security system that shouldn't feel like a home security system'. The MVP was tested in a pilot immediately afterward with a very positive outcome on the concept. This project was challenging in multiple ways. First of all we had to simultaneously work on the hardware (sensors, cameras, key-fobs), as well as the API, front-end and UX, second of all conceptually we had to design a user experience that looks nothing like all other security systems out there. This was an analog scrum project, I was responsible for leading workshops and leading the overall UX/interaction design. -

Ux Design GraduateTomtom Feb 2011 - Aug 2011Amsterdam, North Holland, NlI explored the possibilities of a third party application platform in the car. Basically "Apps in the Car". My conclusion was: the best app in the car is no app in the car. Ok, at least not in the way we are using them now, on screens. The best "app" in the car is there in the background, processing data and helping you in a subtle way. I learned that it's better to embrace and enrich existing processes, people know and already use, instead of slapping a screen with apps on a car dashboard. -
