Serve as commanding officer of the Sheerness station, leading a 50-member team. Ensure the ongoing, consistent, quality delivery of the full police function within each neighbourhood across the 40K-populaton Isle of Sheppey region. Play a key role as the department’s chief liaison with the media, community groups, the extended policing family, and other government agencies to reduce crime, manage emergencies, bring offenders to justice, and to improve the confidence and satisfaction of the community at large in the services provided by the police department.Operational / Management Achievements:• Established a streamlined system for managing a 350-member staff for the Swale Policing Area, building a comprehensive personnel, performance, and training department from the ground up.• Cut staff absenteeism 11% in year 1 and another 14% in year 2 with the institution of an effective absence management program.• Selected to take on the additional role of Complaints Manager for the entire Mid-Kent area, achieving the highest overall complaint reductions in the police force of 25% year-over-year, slashing complaints in each of the 3 most challenging categories.• Enhanced internal productivity and efficiency by reducing the amount of incoming seized property 20% with a formal process for property handling and by reducing stored property another 7% with a property disposal program.• Improved tasking and service delivery with the implementation of an electronic briefing system adopted for use across the entire police force.Public / Police Achievements:• Drove the largest reductions in crime among all of the Mid-Kent neighbourhood teams 4 of the last 5 years.• Dramatically enhanced community engagement and communication, reaching more than 1,500 members of the community with such initiatives as street briefings, public consultation meetings, and inter-agency collaboration programs with public participation.
