In this position, I direct projects and programs to improve maternal and infant health while reducing racial and ethnic disparities through data-based decision making. I create and deploy strategies including the Nurture NJ Strategic Plan, implicit bias training, shared decision-making tools, maternal and neonatal levels of care, enhanced perinatal risk assessment, and long-acting reversible contraception. I also oversaw programs and services directed to underserved and vulnerable populations statewide with workforce development in health professional shortage areas and managing funding to 23 Federally Qualified Health Centers and have operated a $60M annual budget over my tenure.A few notable accomplishments in this position include:• Relaunched the 24-member multidisciplinary New Jersey Maternal Mortality Review Committee to collect data and make actionable recommendations for improvements.• Serve as Principal for the Rapid Response Team and Rapid Mobile Response Team, procuring three mobile command centers and hiring 20 new team members to provide COVID-19 testing and vaccination at congregate settings to vulnerable populations.• Directing 12 different programs and initiatives and 28 staff.

This valuable Fellowship provided experience in legislative policy making and experience at the NJ State Legislature in the Office of Legislative Services.

As Senior Program Manager, I spearheaded a three-year federally funded Health Resources and Services Administration cooperative agreement to work with Community Based Organizations and AIDS Services Organizations to build sustainable business models.Key achievements include:• Conducted needs assessment, created training webinars, and triaged technical assistance providers.• Coached health care providers in Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) recognition with NCQA.

I taught classes on the topics of health disparities, human resources, and strategic planning and policy in public and non-profit healthcare systems.

In this role, I monitored and increased utilization of a Diabetes and Hypertension Program based on population data. I led the daily operations, processes, and four staff members. I also directed the reporting, budgets, and re-applications. I enjoyed defining and strengthening program components, while hiring and training staff and collecting evaluation data.Some accomplishments in this position include:• Crafted innovative and informative marketing plans for community and stakeholders.• Increased participant enrollment and improved patient experience.

I was recruited to set the $900K budget and lead the HIV prevention division. I hired and trained eight employees, set up an office and clinical space, and fostered collaborative relationships and workflows. In addition, I acquired grants and achieved program objectives.

At the CDC, I directed programs for HIV prevention and treatment, serving diverse populations such as persons living with HIV, pregnant women, children with birth defects and development disabilities, racial and ethnic minorities, LGBTQ, and the recently incarcerated. I also created a survey and collected data regarding autism identification and management. Moreover, I drafted a consensus document for a major new initiative regarding congenital heart disease.

In my clinical roles, I served patients in both inpatient and ambulatory care settings, providing highest quality care while advocating for patients and collaborating with diverse care teams.
