I have a clinical Doctorate in Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (DAOM) from the #1 doctoral school in the United States! Less than 3% of acupuncturists in the United States currently retain a clinical doctorate from an accredited Chinese medical school meeting United States governing requisites. I have advanced training in the field of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and have completed externships in Taipei, Taiwan in neurology—including Parkinson's, stroke rehabilitation and Alzheimer's. Additionally, I have over 14 years of experience in oncology and immunology. I was the first acupuncturist hired as an employee by the Cancer Treatment Centers Of America and worked full-time for nearly 10 years closely with oncologists and a full medical staff at the Seattle Cancer Treatment & Wellness Center. Received clinical Doctor of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine degree (DAOM). In 2010, I was selected as 1 of 19 into a clinical doctoral program at the Oregon College Of Oriental Medicine that has accreditation and candacy status and #1 in the country for acupuncture and Chinese medicine doctoral programs. Student cohorts travel from all over the country/world to participate and grow as senior practitioners and strive in becoming ambassadors to the profession of East Asian medicine. The program is a full-time intensive module program where we meet once every 4 to 5 weeks in Portland for 4 to 5 days for two years. Then we must in addition to a tremendous amount of work and student clinic interning, complete a Capstone Project where we have 4 years to complete from the date of the first day we began, Fall quarter 2010. Additionally, we are required to complete an extensive externship either internationally with a university/hospital that meets the requirements of OCOM and/or study with a senior practitioner/program that has fulfilled the appropriate requirements of the doctoral faculty.
