Profile bio

About Dacrie Brooks

I am a Black queer woman who loves telling stories, connecting people, and creating communications strategies that deliver an impact — all from an equity-based lens. I started writing at the age of 15, and I was the young girl who got into “good trouble” when I questioned my history teacher about racial epithets and euphemisms. I’m still that girl! I have more than 20 years of integrated marketing and strategic media relations expertise. I have secured top-tier coverage for many clients and I have a stack of verifiable LinkedIn recommendations to prove it. I’m not cocky but I am confident. I’m also unapologetically Black. I am a compassionate, honest, authentic and direct. My superpower is leveraging the power of narrative to help organizations better understand how context, nuance and language impact the ways we navigate the world and our ability to connect with each other as human. From constituents to skeptics, I have the keen ability to influence and connect people from all backgrounds and varied lived experiences. My passion for writing, connecting people, and forging strong relationships make me an ideal candidate for any organization currently seeking someone who can cultivate organizational and transformational change. And, when it comes to finding someone who has a broad range of senior-level communications experience, I have big picture vision and solid implementation skills: I am creative, so I create exciting communications plans to take organizations to the next level and I see them through!Having worked in white dominant professional and oppressive spaces all of my life, my deepest desire is to become a part of an organization that wants to make a social impact. If you’re an organization who may be considering me as a candidate, I am only interested in joining a team that can embrace authenticity, intentionally work toward inclusivity and honor differences. And, there needs to be a clearly stated and transparent DEI statement that goes beyond looking good on paper and makes its way into the tapestry of your organization through its workplace culture and policies.

Our mission is to cultivate wholeness in people and institutions for the transformation of communities. In addition, we have initiatives in San Antonio and Real County focused on serving vulnerable families and children, including capacity-building for nonprofits, mental health research, and storytelling for narrative change.Every touch-point of our brand and our story matters—e-mails, web pages, social media posts, print pieces, t-shirts, and more.
