About Prof. Dafna Schwartz

Professor of Economics specializing in Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Start-ups, SMEs, and Regional Economic Development.Currently, I am a Professor at Peres Academic Center heading the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center.Previously (until 10/2013), I held the position of Professor at Reichman University's Adelson School of Entrepreneurship. Additionally, I served as the Director of the University Research Authority, and I was responsible for the Implementation and Monitoring of IP at the University. Before joining Reichman University (10/2017), I was a professor at Ben Gurion University (BGU), at the Faculty of Management, where I initiated and led innovation and entrepreneurship programs, including the MBA Entrepreneurship, Innovation & High-Tech Management track, and led the Bengis Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation.Prior to joining BGU (10/1999), I served as the CEO (Director General) of the Development Study Center. Throughout my career, I have been involved in various projects as an economic consultant in Israel and abroad, working with various entities including leading organizations such as the EU, World Bank, INdustry association, companies, startups, municipalities, and governmental entities in countries including Brazil, Ethiopia, China, India, Guatemala, Kenya, Angola, Paraguay, and Israel.I have extensive experience as a board member of leading Israeli corporations and of startups, including Bank Hapoalim, Strauss Group, Oil Refineries, Teva, Rotem Industries, Giron Development and Building, Al-Bad Massuot Yitzhak, Discount Bank, Phoenix Insurance Company, Leumi Securities & Investments, the Israel SME Authority, Inovytec Medical Solution, and others.I also have extensive experience as an executive committee member of various entities, including BGU, the Israeli Camerata Jerusalem, and currently as an executive committee member of 'Educating for Excellence'.In 2011, I was nominated as one of the 100 most influential people in the Israeli economy by TheMarker, In 1996 as a 'Globes Career Woman of 1996' in the field of economics, andIn 2014 as an honorary member of ACS – Cearense Academy of Science, Brazil.I received a B.A. in Economics from Tel-Aviv University, an M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics and Management from the Hebrew University, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the Hebrew University.
