After leaving the Department for Education in July 2015, I started my own consultancy support, advice and project management services to schools, academy trusts and others in the education sector. I have utilised my strategic and operational skills to support a number of multi academy trusts develop their strategic functions to ensure longer term viability. More widely, my work has included due diligence of schools and academies, conversions of schools and transfer of academies to other trusts and setting up new multi academy trusts. I have detailed knowledge of setting up new schools and have advised and worked with trusts to apply for free schools, including special schools, and supported them through to the opening stage. A significant part of my role includes working with MAT’s on financial matters, including financial planning.While at the DfE, my roles involved working with public and private sector partners from school leadership teams, LA members and senior officers, legal advisers and private contractors. I was involved in national policy, local authority strategic improvement, national teacher recruitment and free schools policy and implementation.I am an adviser to two MATs, one primary and one primary and secondary.
