Lead, motivate, and provide strategic direction to a team of Internal Audit staff, reporting directly to the Chair of the Audit Committee of Europe's leading frozen food company. Oversee planning and execution of audits to maximise effectiveness and efficiency of financial and operational controls, as well as process, data, and information systems reliability and accuracy to safeguard assets and maintain corporate governance. Oversee Sarbanes-Oxley management testing programme.

• Reporting to the Head of Group Risk Management and Assurance, and carrying out the day to day management of a worldwide audit team of over 20 individuals and of our co-source partners KPMG in the UK and overseas• Working with the Head of Group Risk Management and Assurance to develop a world class audit strategy for the Group, involving the development of risk based audit plans and the recruitment of high quality individuals to execute those plans• Developed and implemented formal methodology for the function in the shape of the Balfour Beatty Internal Audit Manual. Specific responsibility for quality assurance, review processes and methodology development within the department• Led the integration of the internal audit function of BB’s acquisition Parsons Brinckerhoff• Reporting to the Audit Committee and executive board members on internal audit activities, wider assurance matters, and specific areas of high risk, such as our response to the UK Bribery Act

• Responsible for developing a global best-practice co-ordinated audit strategy for AMEC, and building multi-disciplinary teams in the UK and North America with the relevant skills to implement this goal• Developing managerial talent for the organisation • Responsible for assessing business risk across the global AMEC Group and, using current audit methodologies, developing plans to align audit resources with areas of highest perceived risk• Tasked with ensuring that risk management/internal control remains a key objective for general management• Reporting to the Audit Committee on audit activity, key concerns and the status of the control environment• Ensuring all departmental resources are maintained at an optimum level.

• Responsible for the management and development of the UK based audit team.• Advising on and implementing best practice and corporate governance compliance. This involved an external review of the effectiveness of the internal audit department and the implementation of recommendations arising from this.• Responsible for the development of the AMEC plc audit universe and annual audit plans, with a focus on addressing key areas of risk.• Performing and managing audits of diverse projects, businesses and processes.• Conducting special projects such as the investigation of fraud allegations.

• Responsible for ensuring the completion of all audit and review work in the above division/regions. This involved heading audits at business locations and managing teams working both in the UK and overseas from Head Office. • Involved in the ongoing development of the Group’s audit and risk management methodology. • Involved in the planning of the Group long term audit plan so as to cover key risk areas.• Reporting on audits performed and recommending improvements to internal control systems at divisional/regional Risk and Audit Committee meetings.• Performing, managing and reviewing audits in both the United Kingdom and overseas. • Conducted risk-based audit country reviews of operations in the North America, Asia, Europe and Africa, covering finance, contract management, operational and human resource control areas.
