Responsible and accountable for management of all technology aspects of Starwood's award-winning loyalty program, Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG). Direct responsibility for all technology aspects of the SPG backend system, including: the SPG web services API, which supports over 20 internal systems (spg.com, call center applications, etc.) and external systems (SPG Flights - a real-time airline booking application through a 3rd party vendor, etc.); the SPG batch framework and the 600+ batch jobs which support the SPG platform; member profile and transaction database (including loyalty program point liability); membership promotions suite; membership awards interface; loyalty partnerships; employee incentive programs; and hotel billing and internal web “front end” interfaces using a variety of technologies; manage 24x7/365 days’ monitoring and support of the SPG platform; critical situation participation and restoration of service.Managed the transition of the SPG program from an entirely internally resourced onshore model to a split onshore/offshore outsourcing model.

Managed architecture and delivery of core SPG services and databases as part of Starwood’s SOA “technology refresh” project. This effort included the migration of the transactional database (from db2 to Oracle), and the migration of legacy transactions & batch programs (Cobol or Objectstar based) to a J2EE architecture.
