Bruntwood Sci Tech is a joint venture between Bruntwood and Legal & General Capital, created to promote thriving innovation districts in the UK’s regional cities. From late 2008 I lead the science park's re-engagement with the regional innovation agenda; working to placing it at the heart of Birmingham’s digital/tech community. A key principle behind the strategy was the work to integrate our plans and activities into the regional economy, the innovation and regeneration agendas. This approach reflected my belief in the function of innovation ecologies (science parks) as aggregators and orchestrators of talent - infrastructures that create linkages across the knowledge economy. Such integrated locations, with sector specific incubation facilities and services (we launched the Entrepreneurs for the Future Centre and the Serendip incubator), can drive economic recovery and diversification.
