My career has been shaped by two distinct phases: before Henry Schein and Henry Schein. Initially, I honed my skills in small companies, exploring estate planning, financial planning, and Six Sigma analysis tools. However, it was at Henry Schein where I truly blossomed. At Henry Schein, I imbibed invaluable lessons in mentorship, continuous improvement, teamwork, and effective communication. As a software engineer and later a leader, I contributed to pivotal projects like developing an enterprise service bus and leading the launch of a greenfield, next generation, cloud-based practice management system. My journey then took me on a two-year assignment to New Zealand, leading international engineering teams from Waterfall to Agile methodologies and innovative product development resulting in shortened release cycles, increased quality, new revenue streams, and increased market share.Returning to my roots, I oversaw transformative projects in rebuilding legacy monoliths into microservice based web applications, notably architecting a next-gen claims engine, ensuring seamless customer transitions with innovative load testing and test automation.Diversifying my impact, I reinvigorated the QA department, implementing test automation and refining Agile practices to enhance product quality and release frequency. Establishing a CI/CD pipeline, we streamlined processes, empowering teams to deliver efficiently.Effective collaboration with my teams and my peers, in both engineering and operational groups, has been a key component to my success. I am strengthened by functioning collaboratively with transparency and promote a culture that supports this within my organization.A crowning achievement has been mentoring junior engineers, echoing the guidance I received. Witnessing their growth reaffirms my commitment to fostering greatness within my teams. In summary, my career has been a journey of learning, leadership, and legacy-building, all aimed at building a culture that supports psychological safety, innovation, collaboration, transparency, and individual accountability, to build products that meet the needs of our customers and our business. Or in short, participating in engineering greatness with exceptional teams. What’s next for me? I’m looking for my next long-term home where I can do what I do best, lead exceptional teams to build exceptional things.Additional Specialties: Strategic Planning | Problem Solving | Psychological Safety | Change Leadership | Project ManagementFor a full version of my resume, please contact me via LinkedIn.
