• Provided consulting services as a systems integrator within geospatial big data architecture and engineering involving cloud AI-based object detection from drone imagery.

• Formerly DigitalGlobe.
• Delivered a project under schedule and under budget by originating software to analyze 250,000 sq km of imagery for a client using 20 machines running Hadoop.
• Created an algorithm to extract building heights throughout an entire continent from 3D terrain models for a mapping company.
• Worked with teams of engineers, product development personnel, and sales staff to port an algorithm into our Geospatial Big Data cloud environment where it could run at scale.
• Processed and analyzed multi-terabyte datasets within a multi-petabyte image archive; produced mosaics totaling 1M square kilometers. Applied machine learning algorithms for land cover classification and image mining.

• Provided technical support to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Change Division (CCD) under the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP).
• Performed activities aimed at improving the electronic Greenhouse Gas Reporting Tool (e-GGRT) as well as developing new software tools and databases to verify extensive multi-year data from over 10,000 facilities.
• Spearheaded the development of a custom VBA software application that automated the process for finding patterns in reported GHG emissions
• Explored new tools and techniques involving big data management. Set up a Hadoop system and worked on the development of geospatial classification/clustering algorithms.

Chapel Hill, NC, US

• Spent 3 years performing geographic information systems (GIS)-based research: 2 years using ESRI ArcGIS to manage and analyze vegetation data from field studies to validate a biome model predicting climate.
• Over 5 months, used research and scientific literature to develop written input for the US Forest Service’s management plan for the Uwharrie National Forest, also presenting findings in person. Performed land use/land.
• Over another 5 months, analyzed environmental scenarios and made practice recommendations to managers concerning necessary actions. Also submitted a successful preproposal to the National Institute of Climate Change.
