Maker Cube strives to eliminate the hurdles that restrict creativity and empower members to pursue projects outside of their current skill set. We aim to continually improve access to tools, space and mentorship to encourage the transfer of skills, entrepreneurial growth and innovation within the communities we serve.

The Maker Cube Society is a non-profit makerspace that serves the Surrey community through S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) focused education, innovation, and civic engagement.We design and implement educational workshops, through community organizations, as well as through schools in the district of Surrey. We approach curriculum design through project-based learning (PBL) and constructionist models of education theory, where the ultimate goal is to cultivate curiosity, a ‘maker’ mindset, and the capacity for complex problem solving.Maker Cube supports product development through the provision of workspace and specialty tools and training. We maintain affordable access to DIY manufacturing technologies: 3D printers, computers, a broad range of wood/metal working tools, storage space, and a library of electronic parts for rapid prototyping solutions. We also offer PCB (printed circuit board) fabrication and training - a unique service in the lower mainland at the community level.We strive to be an engine of civic pride and cultural change for the community of Surrey. Through partnerships with local organizations, we create authentic, inclusive, and transformational interactive experiences for community members.

TetraGear is a social venture founded by the Tetra Society of North America to develop and commercialize innovative assistive devices for people with disabilities. TetraGear's flagship product, currently moving into Beta production, is a portable universal LED light to improve road safety for wheelchairs and scooters users. Key Roles and Responsibilities:- Coordinating the R&D efforts and resources of a small engineering team- Managing the integration of all mechanical, electrical and firmware aspects of the project- Contributing to the business development and marketing activities of the team by seeking business development opportunities and meeting with clients and partners- Collaborating in the formulation and continued improvement of TetraGear's early stage business plan- Ensuring selection of appropriate vendors, contractors and suppliers- Reviewing project cost estimates and quantity takeoffs for production forecasts- Designing mechanical hardware in 3D CAD software and rapid prototyping them on an FDM printer- Prototyping and developing the power and control electronics- Drawing the PCBs in KiCAD and fabricating the board using solder reflow methods- Creating and executing QC, benchmark and validation tests for qualifying components and system performance
