To help with transformation into their position and ensure patient safety.Provide exceptional nursing on a general surgical unit with a focus on renal transplant, trauma, bariatric and general surgical population.Accurately obtain and document patient history and assessments, assess individual concern and needs, and suggests department consultations for acute and chronically ill patients. Facilitate admissions and discharges.Perform total assessments including neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, IV site and central lines, surgical/trauma wounds, tracheostomy, urinary catheters, NG tubes, chest tubes, colostomies, PCA pumps, Ketamine, Epidural NB, and titration of heparin drips. Utilize assessment skills to determine patient condition and changes to the interdisciplinary team.Educate patients and families regarding disease processes, medical and surgical procedures, and a broad aspect of therapeutic regimes, including medication and pain management techniques.
