As the Director of Information Systems for the largest volunteer-driven, non-profit health, wellness and prevention organization in the US, I provide strategic decision-making and visionary leadership for all IT operations and system administration. My next position was with Data Connect, a data management company that focuses on applying human insights to data analysis. My role there, was to create, maintain, and improve the infrastructure; manage day-to-day operations; and supervise the customer help desk in a way that communicated that overall vision to sometimes less-than-user-friendly technical operations. Again, there was that critical customer connection.My duties included such things a VPN network installation and configuration; executing security and authentication protocol upgrades; and troubleshooting multiple operating systems (Windows, Mac, iOS, Android), hardware and software, and desktop peripherals. I exceeded expectations on a regular basis and contributed critical evaluations and recommendations in support of strategic infrastructure directions. Specific work included:♦ Achieving a major consolidation and reduction in co=location rack space that result in an annual reduction in operating costs of $11,000. ♦ Managing project IT teams and coordinating support for 65 users running various versions of Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android operating systems.♦ Representing the company at national tradeshows and providing booth network setup, configuration, and support.

I wore several hats while working at this Denver-based organization that provides general nephrology, dialysis, transplant and vascular services: a hands-on support role for all DNCP Research Department systems and infrastructure, and end-user hardware, software, and troubleshooting role, and a pivotal role in evaluating infrastructure acquisition feasibility studies and ensuring HIPAA compliance. In general. My duties included installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting all departmental operating systems, hardware infrastructure, software, and desktop peripherals. Selected projects included:♦ Cost, effort, and efficiency evaluations and recommendations for new hardware and software required to support HIPAA compliance, internal research programs, and external system compatibility. ♦ Analysis, design, and documentation for overall system and specific component upgrades, replacements, and new acquisitions.

After Saunders, I moved on to Stonetree which specializes in delivering Fortune 100 solution complexity to medium-sized businesses that might otherwise be passed over by larger consulting organizations. During my time there, I focused on managing a team of engineers and negotiating/supervising external vendor contracts to support the creations of innovative solutions for multi-office medical practices in the Denver Metro area. Due to the complexity of the technologies involved, and the workload and deadline-driven nature of the work, customer satisfaction ratings when I started at this company were significantly less than acceptable. I consider achieving a 180-degree reversal in this negative perception to a near 100% customer satisfaction rating to be my most significant accomplishment. I accomplished this turn-around by refreshing personal network connections, rebuilding trust, and maintaining a high level of communication with all stakeholders and customers

Saunders was my first foray into purely technical work. I started my career as a Cardiovascular Technician – and that medical background – and the intrinsic responsibility of dealing with matters of life and death – has served me well throughout my career for my technical work which has often been for medical organizations. But it was at this construction company that focuses on comprehensive management of general contracting and development services – and therefore needed critical on-site technical support for teams – that I found my true niche in Hi-Tech. It was not an easy “first job”. I was constantly documenting, configuring, and migrating networks as jobs – and job requirements – changed on an almost daily basis. The work was fast, project-critical, and performance expectations were unforgiving. In addition to skills and organization, I learned to be flexible and innovative while maintaining a total commitment to excellence. And I learned that customer support and help desk operations are the heart of any operation. If the customer is not satisfied, nothing else can be optimally successful.It was a good place to start.
