About Daishi Miguel-Tanaka
I am a Filipino-Japanese undocumented immigrant with DACA. I am a policy expert, organizer, storyteller, and bridge-builder. My family migrated to Los Angeles in 2004 and faced employment and financial challenges as low-wage undocumented caretakers in elderly nursing homes. My vision is to make this country a place where immigrants are recognized, protected, and supported to reach their full potential. I graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Government, focusing on Ethnicity, Migration, and Rights. I have served as Senior Manager at the Immigration Hub, Manager of Immigration Advocacy at Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC, and the Co-Chair for the NCAPA Immigration Committee, a national advisory council of Asian American and Pacific Islander immigrant rights organizations. I enjoy rooting for the LA Dodgers, singing karaoke, and hosting hot-pot dinner parties.
