After completing my BSc in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience, I decided that I wanted to change my career path, but continue helping people. I've always found nutrition interesting. I graduated my Masters in Public Health Nutrition with a Merit. I work for The National Diabetes Prevention Programme. A prevention programme for those pre-diabetic. I love seeing individuals develop their own knowledge. When hearing how clients are more aware of how aspects of their lifestyle can impact their health, and feeling confident enough to make changes, is a rewarding moment. In nutrition, it's important to make sure that the information is as clear as possible, so it is understandable and can be utilised. Otherwise, it will have no impact. The work includes: talking to individuals, anthropometric measurements, finger prick HbA1c, running group sessions, making sure that all the individuals feel comfortable, and topics clearly explained.I work for Lucy Bee Limited which sells a range of products. I have helped develop recipes for books and online. I write blogs, including: bone health, how sleep impacts our health, following a vegetarian diet, and how the western diet impacts obesity. I want to allow people to access to information that they may not have otherwise. I help with the running of their social media mainly Facebook, but also on Instagram. Part of my role is using my nutritional knowledge to help with questions that people may have. We did a cooking & nutrition demo in Dublin for a Wellness Festival.I help out with a nutritionist for recipe development, and shadowed some of their private consultations with clients. Nutrition is a passion which is why I am motivated and driven to help people. The best part of what I do is when people feel like they have the power to make decisions, not just feel like they have to be told how to act. When service users have told me about the changes they have made, no matter how small, I feel so proud of what they have done.
