Volunteer on rooftop farm of a community centre running social programs centred around minority women. Growing food for the community centre cafe as well as a local restaurant. Tasks included prepping/maintaining the beds, planting, harvesting, processing harvests, giving tours to visitors during Toronto’s Urban Agriculture Week

In-store assistance with sales of organic seeds and seedlings grown locally in the company’s greenhouse. Seedling care, answering client questions/general gardening advice/information about different seedling varieties.Company rep/vendor at weekly farmers market to encourage urban agriculture in the area.

Responsible for opening the market and processing/maintaining the organic produce. Placing weekly produce orders (point of contact with produce suppliers). Working the cash register and answering customer service calls.

Maintenance of permaculture garden used for educational visits and for experimenting with different varieties of aromatic herbs and medicinal plants.Assisted with greenhouse operations and sales of seedlings for restaurant kitchen gardens and individual clients. Harvested and dried flowers/herbs for teas.

Supervising students during their quarantine for COVID-19. Regular symptom/temperature checks and mental health check-ins, meal and snack provision, on site point of contact between the students and the school.
