I reviewed novels for a weekly column in the #1 local newspaper. I also previewed and reviewed the arts scene in Santa Barbara including musicals, operas, ballets, plays, and more. I worked with the editors and pitched ideas. I was responsible for getting my article into the editor every week before the deadline.

Laguna Blanca publishes five award-winning magazines a year, four during the school year, and one summer issue. Freshman year I was a reporter and sophomore year, I advanced to the News & Feature editor. In Junior and Senior year, I was Editor-in-Chief in the advanced journalism class. I edited and oversaw the magazine from brainstorming ideas to printing out the glossy pages. My main responsibilities are overall getting the entire magazine from start to finish by managing the section editors and making sure their writers are turning in their work by deadline and then working individually with writers who are having issues with their pages by helping with InDesign troubles or fleshing out ideas to get their article where they want it to be.

This project raises money to help aid in fighting the poaching crisis and also to provide care to injured, abandoned, orphaned, and abused elephants in Southeast Asia. I reached out to influencers, bloggers, and artists working to partner with the Project. I sent them free merchandise and have them post on their social media about the Elephant Sanctuary to raise awareness to their mass following.

For five months, I attended a playwriting program which I applied for after being recommended. I learned from professional playwrights about the inner workings of creating a 10-minute play from the ground up. Then we moved into phase two which was working one-on-one with a well-respected playwright mentor. The ending of the program culminated in a live performance of my work with actors and directors.
