About Daisy Madrigal

I am the Code as a Second Language Programs Manager. Code as a Second Language (CSL) is a National Initiative that has a main objective to introduce as many folks as possible to Computer Science through a series of programs which I oversee from the initial planning stages through completion. The CSL programs are funded through sponsors which I work closely with, some of the companies I have had the privilege of working with include Google, Infosys, Adobe Foundation, Entertainment Software Agency (ESA), General Motors, IDB amongst many others. The work I have done has as a goal to help diversify the technology industry so as to make it reflective of our communities. I am very passionate about Diversity and Inclusion and looking to continue working in spaces that allow me to continue with this type of mission. I am a Graduate from the University of California Santa Barbara Class of 2015 with a Bachelor's Degree in both Political Science emphasis in International Relations and Spanish.Within the University of California Santa Barbara I not only received a diverse education, and also, acquired a host of valuable skills that pertain to the fields I wish to enter. My involvement within the vibrant institution is not limited to the classroom, I was involved in a variety of organizations that further enhanced both my professional and personal skills. My involvement in extracurricular activities enabled her to develop skills such as time management, event planning, volunteerism, service, and organization. Furthermore, I am excited to bring her experience in collaborative work, leadership and project management to a team.

I am a Code as a Second Language (CSL) Coordinator at the Hispanic Heritage Foundation. The Hispanic Heritage Foundation is a national non-profit organization that was founded by the White House in 1988 to identify, inspire, promote and prepare Latina/o leaders through leadership, cultural, educational and workforce programs. Through CSL we have engaged various technology companies as well as internal Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) within said companies.Our CSL initiative is a national initiative that works toward introducing youth to computer programming through a series of programs. The initiative has grown to over 40 different markets nationwide and will be in over 75 schools. With this initiative, we have impacted over 5,000 students with the ultimate long term goal of diversifying the technology industry.

As a Judicial Intern, I was responsible for attending court processing’s and observing various cases while taking notes, enhancing multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced, dynamic and sensitive environment. I assisted in the processing of cases in veterans court as well as distributed and organized required paperwork.
