Daisy M. Nodal is a leader at the intersection of the Non-Profit, Education, and Design industries. Her current role as Director of Education at Moonlighter FabLab harnesses these spheres of knowledge to make an impact in STEAM education and the Maker Movement in Miami, Fl.Daisy designed and developed the acclaimed curriculum for S.T.E.A.M. Sessions, S.T.E.A.M. Field Trips, Summer S.T.E.A.M. Maker Camp, and the Digital Fabrication Basics series at Moonlighter FabLab. She has served as an instructor and facilitator at The Bass Museum, The Frost Science Museum, The Wolfsonian Museum, SAP NextGen, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, and at Schools across Miami-Dade County. Her programs have been featured in MakerEd, Make: Magazine, Telemundo, The Miami Herald, The New Tropic, and Kiddos Magazine.Daisy has spoken at The Atlantic CityLab Conference, The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, The Miami Chamber of Commerce New Innovation Economies Panel, and Hosted various guest innovators from Global Ties Miami and the ie Business School. Prior to her work with Makerspaces, Daisy was an instructor at the United Cerebral Palsy Center working with students with disabilities. She lead and trained staff to implement a program that would enable students with physical limitations to paint abstract art compositions. She curated a gallery night at Arevalo Gallery in the Design District entitled, "Art Beyond Limits." Proceeds from the art sale helped with fundraising efforts to expand the program and train more facilitators to work with more students. She also lead a number of dramatic arts programs that enabled the students to write the scripts, create costumes, and act in various performances including Beauty and The Beast and Pythons in the Everglades. Daisy's passion for Architecture, Urbanism, and Design is best exemplified by her Master's Thesis: Miami of Tomorrow; Adapting the urban infrastructure to mitigate the effects of climate change and sea level rise. Aside from developing a design intervention that re-imagines the built environment, her proposal lead with a public education approach to inform and prepare citizens for the effects of climate change. This thesis received the Award of Excellence from The American Institute of Architects Miami Chapter.
