I oversee both operations and technology at PMEX. PMEX is now Pakistan's largest exchange in terms of notional volume traded. Over the past 9 nine years, I have contributed heavily towards technology, operations and business development of the exchange.

National Commodity Exchange is Pakistan's first derivatives exchange that has been setup to trade precious metals, financial derivatives and agricultural products. My prime responsibility includes overseeing the technology infrastructure of the exchange which consists of extensive networks, databases, multiple data centers and various systems that are used for trading, reporting, settlements, broker back office operations, data dissemination, surveillance and various other exchange functions.We have also helped in developing risk measurement products such as NCEL Riskmeter which is used by stock exchanges to measure market risk in terms of VaR. NCEL also developed surveillance systems for the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, the apex regulator of the country.Apart from overseeing the exchange technology functions, I am actively involved with the top management of the exchange in making major decisions, talking and presenting to visitors coming from various organizations including governments and the World Bank.

Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) is Pakistan's second largest stock exchange and an organization of national and international importance. The LSE boasts an IT investment of around US $ 3 million; a period of about 4 years. We have one of the most aggressive and elaborate IT setups in the country, details of which are mentioned in this resume below.The LSE management comprising of a board of directors and various management committees is the controlling body the exchange. My responsibility is to plan, suggest and implement various automation needs of the exchange. This includes automation of trading, settlement and data dissemination activities. I oversee the MIS department of the exchange. The department has 24 employees, many of whom hold MS degree in Computer Science.During my stay at the exchange, I have been involved in international as well as in-house projects with large capital layouts. The management banks on my judgements on technical aspects of software and hardware. While I am involved with the LSE management on the one end, I have to interface with various vendors, organizations and service providers to evaluate proposals, make presentations and participate in discussions which ultimately lead to important decisions in the exchange in particular and the capital market in general.I report directly to the Managing Director Lahore Stock Exchange.

As the chief developer, I was responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of applications on PCs connected on a 1000 node ethernet network with wide area connectivity. Mix of Windows 2000 and UNIX servers are used as hosts to database applications. Database now comprises of about 6 GB of tablespace with more than 300 tables and several server based and client/server programs.CAPITAL MARKET PROJECTSNCEL NEXTPakistan's first state of the art trading system that that is specifically designed for futures trading and is based on the latest .Net and Ajax based technologies. NEXT incorporates totally web based zero installation client, robust and flexible risk management engine and highly secured login and authentication processes using the latest in digital cryptography.NCEL CSRCSR is the Clearing, Settlement and Reporting system developed at the National Commodity Exchange. This is a web based system used by the exchange to run mark to market, end of day operations, contract definitions and various reports required by the exchange. This is the first settlement system in the country that keeps track of trader funds down to the client level.NCEL eBooksThis is a broker back office system developed by the National Commodity Exchange. The system lets brokers manage their client commissions and margins. eBooks uses web services and to communicate with CSR to retrieve client data.NCEL RiskmeterThis system is used by stock exchanges to calculate VaR (value at risk) margins for all scripts whose historical data is available. It uses daily returns of a stock to calculate VaR values and establish it new margins based on historic volatility of the stock.NCEL Web Based Trading TerminalThis project involves building a web based trading terminal that securely (uses digital signatures) place order and display data on the web client. Uses Lightstreamer and Socket Pro for middleware communications.

US BASED PROJECTSImplementation of an inventory control system for a large business concern using Oracle. The system allows company management to accurately track inventory, invoicing and customer payment transactions. Involved several triggers, PL SQL procedures and use of cursors. Used SQL Reportwriter to generate several large and small reports portraying sales, income, inventory and business volume. Connected the database with different company offices and owner's residence as well.A groupware project for Novell LANs. Combination of project management and E-Mail giving managers ability to closely monitor employee progress on various projects and teams to work in close coordination. Heavy use of Netware system calls including functions to login, setting and resetting of mapped drive vectors, bindery access, print queue monitoring, multiple user file access, automatic reminders from server to user, job server implementation and use of a number of facilities provided by Netware. User interface for DOS text and graphics modes was developed using C Scape library.An Autocad script generation compiler similar to Texas Instruments' GENEX program. It lets CAD operators write their own programs which can generate designs from input parameters. User programs are compiled and a script file is generated for Autocad or other CAD programs to read in. Variation of designs can be produced just by entering different sets of parameters.A remote vectoriaztion server for CAD files. Using this system, Autocad operators can send their files to a remote server for vectorization and plotting. This saves CAD companies tremendous amount of time as files can be vectorized and plotted overnight.
