Working with the Engineering Productivity - Deploy team to transform the CI/CD process at Zendesk. We're building a next-generation deployment platform to enable engineers at Zendesk to deploy code faster, more confidently, and to reduce outages and incidents that affect Zendesk customers. We use cutting-edge technologies like Kubernetes, Spinnaker, Vault, Consul, and more to build tools used by Engineers at Zendesk. Here's a few of the things we do:- Use Spinnaker to manage continuous delivery of hundreds of customer-facing, mission-critical applications and services. We build our own tooling and features on top of Spinnaker and contribute changes back to the open source project.- Continuous Integration with GitHub Actions.- Build tooling and Kubernetes sidecars to manage application configuration and secrets. (Hashicorp Vault, Kubernetes, Jsonnet, - Infrastucure-as-Code with AWS, GCP, Cloudformation, Sparkleformation, Stackmaster, Terraform, Packer, Atlantis, and Chef. Service discovery with Hashicorp Consul.

DevOps Engineer working on a development team in the Department of Radiology at UW-Madison. I architected and implemented our containerized infrastructure using docker, built continuous integration/continuous delivery pipelines in Jenkins, and used tools like SaltStack, Python, and Bash to automate tasks and configuration management. We developed a mix of clinical, academic, and research-focused applications using in the medical school and in the hospital. We wrote mostly web-based apps (Ruby-on-Rails and PHP), along with an iOS and Android app.I also worked with the automation team at UW Health to help design and build automated infrastucture projects.

After graduating from UW I started working full-time (on contract) for the Morgridge Institute for Research where I was able to continue working with the Center for High Throughput Computing and Open Science Grid teams.- Knowledge of high throughput computing concepts and their role in scientific computing.- Administration of the HTCondor Software on a pool of Linux-based servers.- Train and manage student employees.- Perform Linux system administration tasks including software and security updates, user account management, networking & routing, and more.- Use Git and Puppet to automate system changes and workflow. Worked as a Student Linux System Administrator at the Center for High Throughput Computing while I was an undergraduate at UW-Madison.- Helped manage a cluster of over 1000 physical servers running the HTCondor high throughput computing software with various Linux system administration tasks.- Trained new student employees and wrote a handbook for student employees.- Wrote Python and Bash Scripts to automate tasks.- Used Puppet for server configuration.- Monitored servers with Icigina, Ganglia, and Grafana.

I interned with Planet Propaganda's subsidiary Brand P LLC during my fall 2013 semester at UW-Madison. I did full-stack web development, focusing mostly on javascript/HTML/CSS on the front-end and doing some testing/QA on the back-end (PHP). I was able to help develop a couple of websites (nonsek.com, webeschools.com) during my time there where I built some static landing and informational pages with HTML/CSS and Javascript. I also did some testing and debugging of the server-side code (PHP).
