As a Guest Services Specialist, I work in four different areas of the library: Circulation, Adult Reference, Children Reference, and Technical Services. Tasks at Circulation include greeting patrons, assisting them with borrowing or returning items, answering phones and knowing who to transfer the call to if I am unable to help, and selling tickets to places across Long Island.Tasks at Adult and Children Reference include helping patrons find items they are looking for in the library, requesting items from other locations, signing people up for programs, and collecting checks.Tasks in Technical Services include editing records for items, changing or creating call numbers, and repairing items that can be fixed in-house.I also do various outreach events, including going to The Arbors Assisted Living in Islandia and Hauppauge, and Homecoming events at the Hauppauge High School.I have created many displays throughout our building to promote items or specific monthly/weekly events, and often help display decorations for holidays throughout the year.
