Notable Contributions: --------------------------------• Train pharmacy technicians on appropriate use of Pyxis, Accudose-ADU, Twin Cadet and Auto-Med; address staff concerns and questions concerning use of equipment while ensuring all technicians comply with standard procedures. • Presently serve as Member of Hazardous and Cytotoxic Drugs Committee, collaborating with pharmacist to identify and correctly label/segregate hazardous and cytotoxic drugs according to NIOSH standards; developed a simple filing system for each drug to specify repackaging records and packaging requirements. Additionally serve as Member of Quality and Practice Committee.• Represent Tech Role redesign Committee to support internal automation of procedures; reviewed new standards of work and policies in collaboration with the Transformation Technician prior to publication. • Prepack bulk medication (liquids and tablets) into unit doses, repackage patient specific extemporaneous medications per fill list, and affix auxiliary labels; utilize Auto-Med machine to execute all packaging and repackaging of medications. • Recognize High Alert drugs (e.g. high-strength Hydromorphone); follow internal regulations to accurately dispense these medications to appropriate nursing unit while monitoring High Alert medication stock. • Facilitated training sessions to support the transition from manual bin filling to a fully automated workflow; provided instructions to 30 technicians and pharmacists on the use and maintenance of machinery.
